Uganda Unites held a successful ceremony in March to celebrate the top three winners of the 2023 essay writing competition on the theme “Youth Creating a Peaceful Future” in their respective schools. The winners were Nabakooza Justine Daisy from Lugoba High School, who took first place and was awarded a Certificate of participation and a cash prize of $50, followed by Wejuli Trevis Mango a student at Busia Border Seed Secondary School in the second position being awarded a certificate of participation and a cash prize of $30 and then in the third position Nomwesigwa Deborah from Rubaga Girls Secondary School was awarded a certificate and a cash prize of $15.
The occasion was massive at Busia Border Secondary School as the administration of the school was proud to have their student Wejuli Trevis Mango recognised by Uganda Unites as one of the winners of the essay competition. Furthermore, the S.3 class, to which Wejuli Trevis Mango belongs, were excited to join the peace club. Amidst the occasion, the Uganda Unites team did an engagement where 57 new youths signed up to become members. The school administration also appointed one of their teachers to guide learners on the different topics of the guidebook provided by Uganda Unites for each peace club.
It’s great to see such initiatives being taken by schools to encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities and build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
We were pleased to see more students joining our peace clubs during the occasion and would like to congratulate the winners.
